Besides hunting down and breaking the legs of the fools that threw all my photo's into a heap and chucked them to the street. What can I do with the Webshots turned to Smile mess ??? any suggestions?
When Webshots began its transition, did you get an email of the change? I did, and about a week later went to the website and took them up on their offer of creating a ZIP file. That creation process took a few hours, and when I rec'd an email the process was complete, I downloaded the file. I had lots of pictures on Webshots, and as best as I can tell, a copy of them are in the Zip file.
As for freebie photo sites - if Picasa hasn't been mentioned already, consider checking it out. It's owned by Google, and if you already use Gmail, then you probably already have an account even if you're not aware of it. When I got my smartphone, I got a 'droid, and since Google writes the Android OS, I found - rather by accident - that I could set my background to any picture stored on Google's website.
Personally, of late most of the photos I wish to share are on Facebook. I create an album, provide descriptions, mark the visibility level as "Public" and provide a public link to the album, which allows non-Facebook users, as well as non-Facebook "Friends" to see the photos. A slightly different approach, but it works for me.
