We opened with some limits , will see how it goes and try to stay open with the State and County guide lines , Inyo is still in the purple stage so for now we will follow that guide line.

Still looks like the State is asking people to not travel ,and recreate local.
Very heavy snow starting just above Bishop and roads were closed off and on . WARNING if you are stranded in your car keep the snow cleared around your car if you run the the engine ,the exhaust can be fatal. This would happen often in the old days so carry chains and shovel extra clothing food and water and call for help before you get covered. Going to sleep may be a mistake as snow can be 5 feet plus over night and drift around the car , also watch for overloaded tree branches that could break over night . And for people not aware of roof slides , check before you pick the side of street to walk. Ok maybe snow isn't that great, avalances have started in the Mammoth area and more snow forecast , backcountry travel now is very risky.

Don't take roads that may look like they bypass a closure , most likely thay are not plowed and may dead end at a remote location , so help will be limited if at all for hours , walking out might not work! Stay safe since this was the first winter storm it will be awhile for things to get back to normal and very heavy traffic over the weekend heading north .

Watch the speed as you travel , several posted tickets the other day 2 at 90 MPH one at 122 MPH , Speed limit in the towns are less 25 Lone Pine , 30 Independence, 35 Big Pine and 35/25 Bishop. I was watching traffic going through Lone Pine and most were close to the limit , but about 1 out of 10 would be traveling over 50 through town .
