Hi As of this afternoon we are standing at 17 , looks like the link is working and the Hero's site is updating as people sign on.

A little wind today down south here! Been working on the Norco house a little. Forgot about the fog, wind, heat all in three days!

Baldy must of been rough today! I ask Tom to ask Shin if we were going to take down the rocks during a slow part of the day?

Thinking about a flower hike if they start to show. Thanks Doug

Hi Looks like the Hero's site opened today for everyone so please join in for the Hike. If you want to join the WPSMB team the password is 145508 we now have about 25 on the team , Myles and Amy will be with us.

Doug Jr will also join in ,Try asking him about the "ski" trip in the dark down one of the canyons around Baldy many years ago.

Hope to see everyone on the Hike.Look at the team register and join in for two great events The Hero's hike but also somewhere over 333 times up the Mountain for Shin.

If you have never hiked with us , we are slow, old and have fun and if we reach the top that would be great if we don't you have missed a a lot of stories! Doug

Hi Richard P.,
I heard that you were out of shape and no longer interested in hiking or poking others any more.

But, you should show up at Hero's hike on Mt. Baldy on 04/12/2015 because Doug Sr., Doug Jr., Amy & Miles, Rosabella, MC & Dave, GigaMike, Jack & Betsy, and many other old hiker friends will attend the event. Just think as like going to the class reunion of WPSMB.

I looked into my last 10 years of hiking pictures albums recently. I met so many people on the trails and so may people I don't see them any more with various reasons. But, all memories in the mountains are good ones.

You should be able to be in shape by hiking up Five fingers a couple times before the event. Don't forget you can use the ski lift up and down with Doug and Jack, too.

Hope to see you then.

Shin

Hi Looks like we are into the final month and have about 30 for the WPSMB. Thanks everyone for the support. Now that we have Jeff and the Zombie we are gaining strong support from the core crackers, side bet is on 10 0n no show Jeff, 25 Richard waits at the shopping center. Prove me wrong!!!!! Hey we have a great group lined up , Doug hasn't hiked we me since the night I thought we were freezing and made him walk all night.

Jeff we have made I think the most Baldy hikes together or should of, Stacy the ring day!!! Shin the real Captain that signed me as captain several years ago, Amy will make it since see is fresh off the Everest feat or something, Myles will not have a clue we will spend all day walking. I bought real socks for this year so may make it without hot spots. Betsy thinks see will see flowers, Jack was told we are doing Bhitney . Tom will bring 12' feet of cold.Phil and Nancy will push Jeff M into a great design of the new lodge on the summit.

On the serious side MC has written a song for our group. Rosie and her family will be on the mountain. I hope to see the group from Eaton Corp again this year , positive showing traveling from Arizona to support the cause last year.

Now Doug F. and Richard could give us blow by blow hints on what you do around the Summit of Whitney in a white out, seriously both these men faced the ultimate test in the mountains and are with us today, luck maybe but that extra something that says no not today I will stay around for another mountain or two.

We have gathered for this hike a cadre of amazing people for a very worthy cause. I spent last week with a veteran that says the VA has changed and doing great work. These young men we are supporting need this help and our support.

Hi We are less than a month away and I had an email yesterday from the Hero's group that talks about a limit on the number so please join in soon team is wpsmb and password is 145508 , the team is over 30 now so check out the list .

See you on the April 12 if not sooner, The month is loading up , 27,28 up in Bishop the Banaff Film showing and April 11 we have the Alabama Hills day with many events. Kurt Wedberg will lead a climbing event in the Hills , Peter Croft has offered to come down , Doug Robinson Sp Parker and as the word gets out we should see many climbers drop in , plans to be here and the Access Fund, American Alpine is invited and many more great things to do that day. Horse back rides , a short trail building/clean up a lot of tours and talks details to follow , And the after /before we open the Portal Store wrap up at the Hostel 3 PM on till I head down for the HERO'S CLIMB on Sunday.

Younger generation might not be aware of the East Side Climbing History, so like Doug Robinson or Smoke Blanchard, PSOM, John Fisher and many more created a core of East Side Climbers and drew many to the area that kept the energy moving forward and upward with many routes and new areas to climb , The Bamas in the south ( the often overlooked Olancha Peak area) the coming of Mick Ryan, writing many articles on the area in the rags The gorge, the Happy/Sad area the ever popular Buttermilks and Marty Lewis and others show casing the rocks around Mammoth in the early 90's Marty and Peter joining together printing several great guide books .Galen moving the Range of Light Gallery to Bishop making the area his home . Also Mike Strassmen and Roleigh Collins establishing many routes around and later Tim Standing during the mid 2000's. So now the next generation Amy, Myles the recent developers. Jon and Kastle owners of Elevation in Lone Pine and the Wilsons Eastside ,and now 3 great local guide companies easy to sort out since they all are tagged Sierra ...... Mountain Center, Mountain guides and Sierra Mountain International and sierra wilderness seminars. All great Companies. So Bishop downtown is trending towards a future Boulder and the Eastside is shinning in many Books and Blogs.

Are we going to meet up somewhere so all the WPSMB gang gets to put a name to a face?
I'll probably be staying in the RV at Ski Area parking lot.

Hi I thought we could set up a table , like some of the other groups did last year , I will bring one and have a banner Paul made for WPSMB Hikes so we can meet each other and take pictures before we head up the Hill.

Since it is a late start and so many stops along the way we will be spread out after the start and may not all be on top together so the morning should be a great chance for a group picture with Shin and if we can corner Charlie, Tim and " George" that will be a bonus and as many of the Hero's we can get to join in.

We are over 40 signed in now and several more last minute sign ins should be expected.

Rosie came by the other day and we had a great talk and ask if maybe Richard was signed in yet?

Again this should be a fun day , Tom, Jack, Jeff M and I plan on taking the lift up if we do the road so we will be able to start a little later , as we will also ride down so we can meet everyone at the bottom. And not hold up the awards.
