Hello, all.
I had not logged on for a long time, but am staying near Mono Lake and one's thoughts turn to the Sierra..
I went through the season's posts and note the absence of prolific poster known as "Moosetracs" and wondered if she were still around.
I drove through Lone Pine yesterday and it sure looked like an ugly day to be up on the mountain.
Thx;
A

Hey, Adrian! My friend Tish told me about your post. I'm still around, just not on the forums anymore. I am still writing occasionally on my blog, posting photos on Facebook and flickr, and having tons of adventures all year 'round. This summer, I had a lot of fun weekends here, then took a break, of sorts, from the Sierra, and hit the road for three weeks in August.

Sunset from Lake Italy for my birthday trip in June:

Dusy Basin in July:

Olympic National Park, including the Hoh Rain Forest in WA:

The Northern Cascades:

And Glacier National Park:

I tend now to adventure in areas other than the WZ, but had a wonderful reunion with the MR and Main Trail yesterday. Highlights included: hiking under the blood moon up to Lower Boy Scout Lake, breakfast at Clyde Meadow, swimming in Iceberg Lake, and storm clouds to the west with the afternoon sun breaking through.

As I said when I posted the photos: the Sierra may be my heart, but Whitney is my soul.

If people are interested in conditions, the rest of the photos can be viewed here:

The composition on those photos is stunning; Photoshop cannot rescue my results to a fraction of your original work.

Previous discussions on this topic reveal that historically, Laura's pictures are as is -- no enhancing.

I cannot make the same claim.

The body betrays and the weather conspires, hopefully, not on the same day.

Well there, MooseTracks!

Good to hear from you and to view your pictures...

NatGeo has a program about Mick Dodge...

I think NatGeo should do a program about MooseTracks and her adventures...

Welcome back, Laura. We missed you.

Journey well...

Good to hear from you. You were such a prolific poster, adventurer, and burst upon the mountain scene with such verve, I feared maybe something had happened to you. Glad you're OK and still on the trail...

Moose the recluse!

It doesn't matter; the Message Board is like the Portal Store - it doesn't matter how long you've been away...
