ansoncom, go to the us forest service or the inyo forest service website and type: FILM PERMIT into the search box. Open the "When Do I Need a Film Permit" page. About half way down and under the heading it quotes:
Commercial Filming: Motion Pictures, Television Locations, Commercial Videos
A special use permit is required for all Motion Pictures, Feature Films, Television Locations, and Commercial Videos and Documentaries that use actors, models, sets or props and etc.
Permits are not required for filming activities, such as:
·News, and gathering of news related stories.
·Other types of documentaries not requiring the use of actors, models, sets, or props. (end of quote)
---I don't believe that my shadow, visible a few times on the rocks, will make me an actor. (Maybe I qualify as a shadow of an actor???) And, my hand-held camera with a few attachments is not a set or prop. Did'nt use any models either, darn!
Sorry you did'nt do your project. I believe, no impact, genuine nature filming or, as in my case, a "visual trailguide", would bring more awareness and enjoyment to others.P>
