Mt. Whitney Portal Store & Hostel Forums General Mt. Whitney Portal Store Message Board Shorty's cabins in SEKI, does any one have GPS fix

I do remember some discussion on this forum re. Shorty Lovelace, a fur trapper during 1930's and 40's who built about 30 cabins in Sequoia Kings Canyon NP before it became a NP. I remember DOUG a member of this group who trail ran from Road's end to WP via Colby pass and Kern river, did mention about one of the cabins near Colby lake after the big wet meadow. I found one youtube video on another of Shorty's cabins near Bubb's Ck in Vidette meadow. I am planning to do the JMT in August and would pass by two of his cabins close to JMT, one near Woods Ck bridge and the one in Vidette meadow and plan on visiting both. So does some one have GPS fixes on Shorty's cabins? Appreciate the info.

Never mind! I found the info from an application made to the National Register of
Historical places to recognize Shorty's cabins. One should be able to find the
GPS fix from the N and E coordinates. Here is the info.

Don't know if it was built by Shorty, but there is a ruined cabin just norh of the High Sierra Trail intersection along the Kern above Junction Meadow.
