I'm planning on going the Monday after Easter and am hoping there is still some snow to play (train) on. Anyone out there happen to know what conditions currently exist out there?

Not much snow left. There are still patches on the north side but they're thin, muddy, and melting rapidly. You can follow the trail all the way to the top without stepping on any snow at all. If you really want snow I'd try elsewhere.
It's been a couple months since I went up Telescope, but I'd argue with the road being in "very good" shape beyond the kilns. You shouldn't need 4-wheel drive, but your car had better have some ground clearance.
Thanks for the comments on the road. I had a sidewall blowout a few years ago and tended to avoid the area...but the hiking is terrific and I hope to get back there soon.
