Meet me in Kathmandu two Mondays from now. Bring Tracy too.

You guys were in mind (along with the competitive juices) when I read that some guy did the Manaslu Circuit in six days (and got press for it). His Longest Day was only Fifty K. (Big ...)

I propose the next WPSMB get-together be in Kathmandu in the Thamel district!

April 13, 2013
7 p.m.
Yangling Tibetan Restaurant, or such other place as Kevin or Richard P may propose.

How about it?

Make it somewhere up in the hills like:
Namche
Periche (we can watch an AMS presentation...)
Lobuche
Gokyo
Gorak Shep
(maybe even) EBC (although the only reason I want to go back there is to get up to the Western Cwm).

I still keep reminding myself to put dates to you itinerary, but always seem to foget when I'm on my computer at home.

If Kevin is in Kathmandu on 03/03, I'll look to do Happy Hour somewhere with him. I'm still shooting to get out of KTM by 03/04 and don't want to return until I go home.

I have been able to get in touch with my old friend Yakpu Sherpa, so we'll be doing some walking together after way too many years apart.

No problem, Richard, I will do it for you and shoot you an email. The dates will be approximate, though, given all the things that can and probably will happen. So tea or beer on top of Gokyo-Ri (or wherever) it is!

There's also the possibility of an even bigger surprise at the head of one of my other favorite valleys.

Then there's that spectacular one that leads to the Nangpa La, Renjo La, Lungsampa La (probably misspelled), etc. (Tashi Labtsa?)

Maybe I'll just be bouncing around all over the place because there is so much new stuff that I want to see and also as bunch of repeats that I'd love to be able to do.

See your email sitting in my inbox...

Katmandu

looking at plane flights right now we would love a vacation in the giants.. We read often of peoples treks that are going quickly , we like the long hard days probably because i can not sleep well, 3 hours and my body hurts to much , so that is what inspires are longer days I think:::))))).. when are you leaving???

My theory is that you only go really fast when you have to...
Or, there is someplace better you want to get to...
Sometimes, it is just fun to put the hammer down..

I leave really, really early next Friday.

Richard,

This is going to be a weird request but are you going to be in LA before leaving for Kathmandu? since i'll be here for a bit working, i need some nice dress shirts. let me know if you are up for packing an extra half a dozen shirts or so with you. i can also see if a friend of mine can drop it off in Ridgecrest. And of course first round's on me when you get to Thamel. I'm living in Hotel Courtyard.

Thanks,
Kevin

That's cool that you've picked up work over there.

I'm packing light and not taking any climbing gear so I should be fine to carry some clothes over for you.

I'm flying out of Ridgecrest next Friday morning, so if your friend can get them to me I'll get them to you.

Email is Richard.Piotrowski at gmail.com. Probably easier if we take the conversation there.
