Hi Bob Rockwell emailed a TV special on the missing Ranger It will air Jan 14 9 PM on several networks. Discovery Channel, Direcct TV Ch 285, CH 204 Mediacom and CH 192 Dish Plesse check your local listings and see if they match , We have had in the past not getting the programs at the same time,or channel
A book was published some years after the search ended ,with a few insights about remote areas and how even a massive search yielded no results. a repeat of the search several months ago.
Thanks Bob for the information

Name-dropper that I am.... Got an email from Eric Blehm about the show and Mt. Morgenson...
Thanks to Bob also...
But I don't have cable or satellite anymore. Hopefully, it gets airtime via the Internet soon.

Thanks for that, Bob, Doug and Richard Here is Eric's superb book about Randy. Anyone who reads this will think about it whenever going through the beautiful Upper Basin Last Season Here is a good description: Destined to become a classic of adventure literature, The Last Season examines the extraordinary life of legendary backcountry ranger Randy Morgenson and his mysterious disappearance in California's unforgiving Sierra Nevada—mountains as perilous as they are beautiful. Eric Blehm's masterful work is a gripping detective story interwoven with the riveting biography of a complicated, original, and wholly fascinating

The show title is listed as "Disappeared" it's a series on the ID channel 285 (Direct TV in Bishop). It shows at 6pm and 9 pm on 1/14.
Reading this book now...the show should add something to the experience! Thanks for posting Doug!

Thanks Patrick, definitely want to read that. Cable TV in my area does not offer the program Investigation Discovery bummer. However, the web site might stream the episodes: http://investigation.discovery.com/tv-shows/disappeared

Thanks, Doug, for the heads-up. The book was fascinating, so I'm anxious to see the upcoming TV program. Interesting incident...about a week after I finished reading the book (several years ago), I went on a clean-up binge in my attic. I pulled out a box full of old books, magazines, etc. Right on the top, was an information booklet about Yosemite, written by Randy's father!

They have videos on the web, perhaps it can be seen there. I also found the network on Xfinity OnDemand Online. It should show up there after broadcast.
Great book and story. Tragic we all lost such a good soul...

Awesome. Thanks for the info, I would have missed it. Last Season was one of the most gripping books that I have ever read.
For other Last Season fans, Finding Everett Ruess by Dave Roberts is excellent also. Dave Roberts is one of my favorites.

Thanks for the reminder. I will be watching if I can get it. I read the book a couple years ago and I highly reccommend it. Fascinating yet tragic story but very well written. Some of our backcountry ranger friends are in the book. I wonder if they were interviewed for the TV show.

It was actually a pretty good episode. If you missed it, I'd recommend trying to find the rerun. And if you haven't read the book yet, it is a must read by an excellent author.

Just watched on youtube. After reading the book, I expected to be immune to the sadness. That was not the case. Met George Durkee on the JMT this August. I imagine Randy was as dignified a backcountry ranger as he is.
