Unfortunately I will not be able to make the hike Saturday.

Thank you very much Doug Sr., Doug (trail bud) and Laura for putting together another great example of community.

Have a fun hike and dinner.

Are there folks carpooling up from Hostel to Horseshoe TH. It seems silly to drive 20 vehicles up the road. I will drive up early Saturday morning from R/C.

Hi Tom,
I'll make the changes. I'm driving up too, if you want we can car pool.
Take care.
Doug

Doug, I'll be drving a 7-person SUV (rental) with Ken, so we certainly have room for extras as well. If we need to be out the door by 8:30, lets set the time for any/all who'd like to carpool to meet in the Hostel Lobby at 8:15 (so we actually can be out the door at 8:30 smile )

It takes almost 45 minutes or so to reach HM from LP, and the hike should kick off from the trailhead by 0900. Counting back, and realizing the drive may be a bit longer with some snow/ice/wet on the road, please plan accordingly.

For multiple reasons i cannot make the hike with you all. Have a great hike, hope the conditions and views are awesome and may it be a lovely celebration of Bill's life. Cheers from me at the potluck to follow! Look forward to the pix.

Doug, lets make it 8:00AM (or 7:45?) meet-up time in the lobby just to be sure we have enough time to get up to the TH.

I'm heading up shortly... probably get in to Lone Pine around noon, so I'll be watching for you (either at the Hostel or Portal) to see what the consensus is.

Looking forward to seeing everyone!

Hi all,
Be safe and have a wonderful time tomorrow! When I think of Bill the picture that comes to mind is of him sitting quietly, smiling as he basks in the camaraderie of that first WPSMB group hike. I'm sure he'll be with y'all tomorrow , as well! I'm unable to attend this time, but look forward to your posts and pics and hope to join you on future events.

May God walk with you, L. Michael

Hi TB Doug
Curt and I will be there tomorrow.
Magic Cookie Bars are cooling on the counter as I type this (it smells like a bakery in here!).
We plan on being in LP by 7:30 at the latest.
Thanks for doing the iCoordinating on this...
Looking forward to seeing everyone!

DrivIng up now. About to lose 3G because making the turn west around the crest. In the clouds, but road is clear so far, no ice or snow yet. If I don't post again today, it is because conditions are fine for a sedan.

Sun is breaking through clouds ahead. Snow on the peaks. Very beautiful up here.

Just confirming, I'll be leaving LA about 3:30 tomorrow morning and should easily make it to the TH by 9.

Is there any reason not to turn off at Lubkin Cyn Rd instead of going into Lone Pine and up the Portal Road to the HM road? It looks good on the map but I would hate to go part way and find it blocked or washed out and have to retrace back to the highway.

See you all tomorrow.

Sorry I missed this one. My step son was involved in an auto accident last night. No injuries, but I had to stay home to take care of things. Hope to see some pictures posted later. I'm sure it was great with the leaves changing and new snow on the ground.
