Mt. Whitney Portal Store & Hostel Forums General Mt. Whitney Portal Store Message Board Bear canister Rental

Any advice on renting a canister for a overnight hike? I guess the one rented at visitor center is heavier for a solo one nighter. Wondering if can a rent lighter canister around WP.

Also, I believe WPCamp site doesn't have a shower. Is WPHostel is the only option around?

Wild Ideas rents carbon fiber canisters...that's as light as a hard canister gets. That's all done by UPS or mail.

The shower at the Portal Store operated last year.
