I stated earlier (based on information given in National Geographic Adventure magazine) that a two-hour show about Denali N.P./Mt. McKinley would air Oct. 26, but it turns out it will air tonight on MSNBC tonight Nov. 2. It will air several times in a row I think beginning 5 p.m. PST so you can't miss it.

I hope it's not a show about frostbite, I'm a little annoyed at people who know they are going to get it go hike/climb anyway and then grieve on TV about the loss of their toes.

Anyway, it's worth a view, you don't see too many shows about the Alaska high country.

Thanks for the heads up about the show. It was awesome. I'm still trying to figure out who shot all the footage and how big the camera was that they lugged all that way!

They address alot of issues concerning SAR on the mountain and dileamas that rangers face with managing the climbers, if that kind of stuff intrests you. It seems like it will be showing again soon check out the article at the MSNBC website regarding the program.

It is called Life and Death on Denali(National Geographic Ultimate Explorers)

I think I'm hooked; next week they are having a feature on Benedict Allen's attempt to cross the frozen Bering strait solo on a dog sled!!!

It was a very interesting and enlightening show about SAR and the risks they take to help others. But, it never ceases to amaze me how people will head for mountains unprepared (2 who showed up with no equipment) or do stupid things (left 15 year old son at base camp). The host's whining about being cold, tired, and sore got old very fast.

I second that; but his Austrailain accent made it quite entertaining. Although I think most folks from SoCal whine more when the temps drop below 60! ;-)
