High winds last night and cold air mass moving in today. Portal temp at 6:00 pm ,32 degrees, bring a jacket and maybe a wind breaker one or two groups left on the Mountain. Talked with a hiker named Jesse , he spent 4 days on the summit and said last night the winds were very strong at the summit.
About 11 hours of daylight now so expect hiking in the dark both ways . Winter yet? I don't know but be ready.
Store will close on the the 2 Nov. Great to see so many of the board members stop and say Hi. Have a Great winter, will post when snow sets in on the area.
Thanks the Portal crew.

Doug, Earlene & crew,

Thanks so much for everything you do year after year. It was nice to finally get to meet you both about a month ago. Have an enjoyable winter. Hopefully, our plans for 2004 will include another trip to Whitney.

Yep, super nice visiting with you again last July 6th, Doug. And your book, great, it occupies a prominent place on my mantel. Now, go home and get started restoring that vintage Beemer! ........ see ya back on the Mountain sometime in 04'.

P.S.: Have my cheeseburger on the grill!
