I an hiking on october 2 and was wondering if it will be necisary to use crampons twords the top? thanks

Unless a huge amount of weather comes in, no. I was up there Sunday, and while yaktrax or microspikes would have been nice for a couple stretches (the long last high switchback, and the cables section) the rest wasn't sketchy in boots/with poles.

The 4th is our day as well but according to dmatt's forecast Tuesday isn't shaping up the way I'd hoped.

The Portal store has microspikes for sale at a very good price. If in doubt, buy some, they are very helpful in a pinch.

Hi If you buy spikes get one size smaller than required and expect them to break after rough hiking., but can be tied back into support with shoe laces. Thanks Doug
