Just wondered who else might be heading to the Portal this coming labor day weekend... My husband and I will be day-hiking on Monday (assuming we won't be able to switch up our reservations), but will be at the Portal Campground starting on Saturday. Would be nice to put a few faces to names on here if anyone is around!

Either way have a fantastic long weekend!

My wife and I plan to be there this weekend.

I will be sporting a goatee wearing a "First Recon" black cap. My wife will be the pretty blonde!

Oh, and I will be piggin' out on a double order of fries!

Get ready, Doug, here we come!

Get them taters ready for devouration!

your edit reason cracked me up!!! i do recall the fries as being AWESOME!! almost as good as that giant pancake!!

Hopefully we'll see you up there!

I don't post a ton on here (most of what I would say in response to posts has been said better by others), but I'm on here pretty much daily checking on conditions, news and living vicariously through those who get out into the Sierras more than I get to!

In addition to keeping an eye out for a goatee, black cap, and an impressive display involving a complete and swift devouration of fries, look for a shy guy who keeps to himself and really doesn't say much. You've got to pry the slightest of "hellos" outta this guy.

Yeah right!!

TeamTif and Danu(elle), have a great time on the mountain this weekend. The weather looks like it will be perfect. Wish I was up there, too. Be safe and have fun (now where have I heard that before??).

Team Danu(elle) wisheth TeamBrewinBruin be up there but reckon there must be some kind of Bruin football game somewheres.

T-storms? Hah...Danu whoosh them out of the area...

Hah, we be in B-shup! Stayin' at the Creekside Inn just stumbling distance from Whiskey Creek.

Tried the Hostel first...booked to the summit. Dow Villa...not. Uh oh.

Called Creekside last resort. "Yes, we have." We are so there.

Gittin' there Friday afternoon and checkin' out Sunday, 9/4.

Our first splurge this year with all that has been going on so we might as well live it up. This is gonna be a combo anni for ourselves and wifey-pooh birthday present. What's in it for me? Have fun.

Campin' was an alternative, but it's hot over here on the Westend (Fresno/Coarsegold) and we want to chill out.

Don't look like a Whitney but there are other things to do on the Eastend.

Lookin' at Meysan on Saturday. Then lookin' at fries devouration. Then washin' it down with a cold one.

Yes, BruinDave, I'm a packin' the fly rod! Got my gaiters and waders and flies. Ain't throwin' nuttin' back.

Hmm..maybe catch enough for Doug and Earlene for them to cook and eat.

Savin' the innards for the tequila or whiskey shooters. Country boys can survive.

Kurt and MooseTracks and anyone else...hope to see yah in B-shup.

I'm planning on you being at the portal Doug!!! I need my (part of a) pancake the morning before i start hiking, and my burger when i finish!! =)

We'll be getting in Sat early afternoon, and I managed to score 2 overnight permits just now (which means there are now 2 dayhike permits for Monday - and there were 2 dayhike permits for Sunday when I called too) so we'll head up the mountain Sun morning.
