I did not see these in the REI sale catalog but did see them at my REI store. 3 Bear Canister Styles are on sale: 1) Garcia
normal price $69.95, sale price $51.99 2) Bear Vault BV500 (large) normal price $79.95, sale price $59.99 & 3)Bear Vault
450 (smaller) normal price $66.95, sale price $49.99

The REI 20% coupon is not valid on sale items. You can click on www.rei.com and then search for Bear Canisters to check out the several different styles, not all of which are on sale.

Finally Chris here is your chance to get that long wished for Bear Canister for your hike up Whitney this summer.

Of course Doug knows about REI. For those that don't it was founded in 1938 and as noted by Fishmonger above it is growing and going strong. $20 life membership to join now and you usually get about an annual 10% rebate on REI store purchases. Better yet, get a no fee VISA REI card and 5% rebate when you use the card for REI purchases, 1% for purchases elsewhere, including the Portal Store! Rebates are added to the annual 10% one as above. I joined way back in 1961 for a couple of bucks as I recall.

The first catalog was hand written on a paper napkin. You could order the tent, the sleeping bag, the parka, and the stove.
