I know we're not supposed to chat, but I like going against the rules...

I was sitting around at the park, contemplating dinner when I decided that I'm burned out on Whitney for the time being. Some feats are better left undone?

Thanks for the invite, but I think I'm going to sit around and watch football tomorrow. Maybe I'll rerun the Rose Bowl Game. smile

Absolutely gorgeous photo.

Richard says: "I think I'm going to sit around and watch football tomorrow. Maybe I'll rerun the Rose Bowl Game."

Which year?

Richard:
I think you can stick this year's RB Game and your double plastic boots... oh, is that insulting?? :-)
Sorry to hear about the aborted alpine start, winter summit attempt. Instead, I had Tina with a cattle prod up B**** (Bear) Canyon today! We had a BLAST!!

I'll post trip reports/photos in the next few days, everyone. Stay tuned!!

Laura, I'm chatting again...

They're not double plastic boots (not a single bit of plastic in them), they're double boots!

I figured I'd take one more opportunity to rub it in a little bit more with the comment about the Rose Bowl. You'll get no apologies from me for reminding the Trojan haters that the opposition got smoked this year.

Hey, didn't you read in another thread that I'm a legend? I guess it's all right to take pot shots at me and try and knock me off of my pedestal.

It was cold enough in the morning to instantly create snotcicles, so why wouldn't my feet get cold while I was waiting for the fidgeters to get ready to go.

BTW: Who was it that was shivering uncontrollably, prompting me to ask who I should notify in case I found an icicle in the morning? And who was it that had the shiver/quiver behind?

BTW II: If only I was a little bit younger and not attached!

Have we gone back to brain-freeze silliness, like last Saturday?

Richard: The proper term is "jiggle bootie" or "frozen badonkadonk".

OK, I'll stop now. Don't want to get in trouble...

So, I'm changing the topic slightly, although this'll tie in to a few other threads that appear on the board:

While spending time shopping with my wife yesterday (something to make up for what I thought were problems created by my climbing adventures of the past few weeks, but actually caused by a personality conflict at her place of work - boy was that a relief) I stopped in at the A16 in Torrance to look for a pair of new VBLs. (I awed 'em with talk of knowing Kurt.) Man, is new technology expensive! 35 bucks for a pair of SealSkinz!

Anyway, this should eliminate any more cold feet. (Couldn't find my VBLs in storage and using shopping bags on my feet would have just confirmed the "homeless" look that I displayed with the huge pack on my back, with all the jugs hanging off of it.)

Richard -- It's one thing to carry a big pack. If the one in the picture is not full of He balloons, yours qualifies. However, in order to claim the homeless look, you need more than that.

A shopping cart on the MMWT would certainly do the trick.

The shopping cart tracks in the snow are a dead giveaway.

Seriously, climbing Whitney at this time of year is quite an accomplishment!
Truce????? (Since I've said something nice.)

BTW: hold the camera a little farther away from my face next time so I don't end up looking like a close relative of Jimmy Durante. (My nose is not that BIG!)

>>...burned out...<<

So Richard ... how 'bout sending Whitney out my way for a week or two...

BTW, I'm cracking up reading the exchanges between the 3 of you and Alan! -- (not to mention the close-up picture of Richard -- not sure how to categorize that look on his face ... a little like a non-plussed cat sort-of patiently waiting to be let in or out?).

By the way Richard, if you want to replay the best bowl game of this season, it should be the Boise State-Oklahoma game.

I really do need to see a replay of that game. I fell asleep prior to the game ending, so I missed out on the exciting finish.

Here's hoping that some more snow gets dumped on the Sierra. It's definitely in dire need of some more.

Wow, what is everybodys opinion on snowfall in the sierra's for the next two months? Late winter or just a dry winter?
