Anyone been up to Onion Valley Lately. Wondering how low the snow line is and if the road is open to the campground.

Was at Onion Valley April 30-May 1. Road open to Onion Valley campground and trailheads. Camped overnight at Flower lake (on the way to Kearsarge Pass). Clear skies both days and night. Over night low reached 10 degrees F, but fairly nice during the day (50s). Little to no wind by Flower lake. Abundant snow starting from the campground/trailheads. Snow shoes optional, but not really needed. The snow is mostly compact enough to get by without. Numerous skiers and snowboarders taking advantage of the free snow covered slopes.

Little Pothole lake is mostly exposed. Gilbert, Flower, Heart and Big Pothole lakes frozen over. Some fish visible at very small openings at Flower lake.

Reached Kearsarge pass May 1, noon. Snow was easy for kick-step climbing (no crampons required). West of the pass, looks like the Kearsarge and Bullfrog lakes all frozen over. Extensive snow covering the valley west of Kearsarge pass, truly a magnificent sight.

Riker,
Do you have any pics showing the west side of Kearsarge Pass? It would be interesting to see what current conditions look like in that area.

Why Yes, I am crazy. I'm just not stupid.

Ditto that. Kearsarge Pass has incredible views.
