Does anyone know of a Mt. Shasta forum similar to this one?

I've been reading CascadeClimbers, which has a fair amount of data if you search...nothing like this however for up to date info. I keep looking and have yet to find one, please share if you do.

The snow rangers put out an accurate climbing advisory on a regular basis. You can find it here.

Kevin, that's a great site - very educational. I had no clue such ferocious winds were common on Shasta. I have a buddy who is a Marine Recon mountaineering instructor, and he typically makes a couple of trips a year to climb Shasta with some of his trainees. He's never mentioned the wind being such an issue - but then again, he's a Marine and would never admit to a hardship in the first place.

It is a good site, and Shasta is fortunate to have snow rangers who've worked on the mountain for several years. They're friendly and competent. An additional benefit of that USFS district is that staff manning the permit desk actually climb the mountain regularly, so if you stop by before a climb to get the latest beta, it's often first-hand and detailed.

After all, if you had a good job in Mt Shasta, would you EVER move?!

The dickering process with my wife and daughter is ongoing. Till that day comes, however, I operate on the firm premise that God invented the Boeing 767 for the express purpose of getting me out west to play. smile

I hear you. If it weren't for the snow the town sometimes gets, we'd be living there. We compromised, and settled on the Eastern Sierra.
