hello all, hope you're all having a good winter climbing season.

i'm in los angeles, and am planning a san jacinto hike/climb from idyllwild. i have a beginner coming with us, who is not ready to commit to purchasing a bunch of stuff he may only use once...any places in socal rent winter snow travel stuff? crampons? snowshoes?

let me know what you guys think.

thanks in advance!

REI rents most of it, if you go up the tram from the Palm Springs side of the mountain instead of Idyllwild they rent at the top of the tram just down and to your left once you leave the "Mountain Station" at the top, ask anyone that works for the tram and they will point it out to you, have fun be safe smile

thanks!

incase someone searches for this in the future..i've called around and it looks like the REI in Tustin rents everything - crampons, snowshoes, ice axe, etc...

and the REI in Santa Ana rents just snowshoes..
