He doesn't post or visit here, but to peakbaggers and others who love adventure and exploring, Bob Burd has provided inspiration for a good, long time. I'm fortunate to now call him a friend, and it is with the deepest admiration that I congratulate Bob on finishing his quest to day hike all the peaks on the Sierra Club's Sierra Peaks Section
list. If you look at this list, be sure to have a big topo open nearby to really grasp the scope of what Bob's accomplished.
I had the privilege of being invited, and to go on, Bob's last two hikes to finish the list: Observation Peak on 9/16, and Table Mountain yesterday on 9/23. They were each glorious adventures in their own right.
Observation Peak
Table Mountain I would encourage anyone with any interest in the Sierra as a whole to check out Bob's
trip reports for beta on climbs and approaches. I've heard rumors of a book someday, maybe another Sierra Challenge?
Congratulations, Bob. The true meaning of inspiration is to have someone else try what you have already done. Here's to continuing the adventures!
