He doesn't post or visit here, but to peakbaggers and others who love adventure and exploring, Bob Burd has provided inspiration for a good, long time. I'm fortunate to now call him a friend, and it is with the deepest admiration that I congratulate Bob on finishing his quest to day hike all the peaks on the Sierra Club's Sierra Peaks Section list. If you look at this list, be sure to have a big topo open nearby to really grasp the scope of what Bob's accomplished.

I had the privilege of being invited, and to go on, Bob's last two hikes to finish the list: Observation Peak on 9/16, and Table Mountain yesterday on 9/23. They were each glorious adventures in their own right.

Table Mountain

I would encourage anyone with any interest in the Sierra as a whole to check out Bob's trip reports for beta on climbs and approaches. I've heard rumors of a book someday, maybe another Sierra Challenge?

Congratulations, Bob. The true meaning of inspiration is to have someone else try what you have already done. Here's to continuing the adventures!

Congratulations indeed. "Bob Burd's Sierra Travels" has edified and entertained me for many years.

I suppose you're going to Disney World now, Bob?

Congratulations on an amazing accomplishment! But more than an accomplishment, it is the love of the mountains and all that is around us that leads us to enjoy these stunning places (captured so eloquently by Laura's lens).

Those TRs (along with yours Laura) have inspired so many people and we are all very grateful...and inspired to enjoy the abundance of the life out there.

Congrat Bob, awesome accomplishment and truly inspiring cool

Also, kudos to Laura on making the uber Table Mountain hike cool

I was looking at Table Mt from Whitney yesterday and man oh man that is one long hike from Shepherd Pass. Speaking of Shepherd Pass, I saw on Bob’s page that the trail profile show Shepherd Pass as just a bit over 8 miles. Hmmm….I also thought it was 10-11 miles. I always knew Bob was a sandbagger wink

Cheers,

Congrats to Bob--that's a huge accomplishment! The fruits of his labors for the rest of us are definitely his trip reports. It's been years since I climbed a new peak without utilizing his great write-ups and photos. They often shed new light on the usual, at times inaccurate, guidebook beta we rely upon. I hope the book rumor is true!
