Richard - some of his Scout Troop was impressed, but at school, if it doesn't involve beating the latest video game no one seems to care. His PE teacher spent a lot of time talking to him about it. There is a little envy on the rest of Team Snail (which we started calling Team One and Done), but he hasn't been asked to autograph any Whitney maps. smile

Since we have been back he has talked about doing the "Grand Staircase" varation (PM sent) and he is excited about Thor. He did ask if we were planning to tag Whitney after Thor, so he still does have a lot to learn. He is also very interested in other ways up Whitney - a backpacking trip up the west side is being planned for next year.

This Saturday he is helping a buddy finish his Hiking Merit badge by completing a 20 mile loop on San Jacinto.

I'm interested in the Death March, we can discuss after 9/11...............................................DUG

It can be done. You just have to be as fast as Rick Kent.

A traverse over Thor to Wotans Throne would be possible for mere mortals. Head up the NF, traverse over the peak to Wotans and then head down via the Main Trail. No problem running out of daylight on this one because it's easy enough to walk out in the dark.
