Wow. Starting when you were 38 y.o. makes your accomplishments even more amazing, Bob.
At 37 I had a life changing event and I just picked up a book somewhere and, without having any experience at all in mountains (born and raised in Missouri and after that a life-long resident of Texas) headed to Yosemite for a mind-distorting week. The rest is history!
This week I am taking my oldest of 6 kids on a 10 day trip out there--starting at Lukens Lake and around Ten Lakes area, Grand Mountain, up Hoffman; up to near Glen Aulin then down to some of the waterfalls; back up to Young Lakes and Conness; then a day off to try and get a permit in Bishop Lakes area; maybe hike Lake Gardisky and Tioga Peak, then down to South Lake, up to Dusy Basin and maybe try Mt. Agassiz. If we have an extra day, White Mountain Peak. Hope to see the Perseids August 12-13 or thereabouts.
