I thought this was pretty cool and wanted to share. It's like a trip back in time. It's kind of amazing how accurate, and at the same time inaccurate this map is.

I'm a map guy and thoroughly enjoy the mining map. I'm amazed at the accuracy 146 years ago. I find it intriguing that the California-Nevada border line differs by about 6 compass degrees, besides being off in alignment with the current border position. My guess is that the map was precise, but the border specifications changed over time.

I recommend viewing it in Google Earth. Impressive.
