The Sierra crest is the blurred background in this photo.

Quick question for the wildflower-loving sierra veterans:

Wild blue columbine. Have you seen it? I came across a cluster just below Lamarck Col last weekend. I've seen red, white, and hybrid varieties all over the sierra, but never blue. Is it common and I've just missed it until now? Rare? Am I crazy?

Pretty surprised to see the wildflowers starting to bloom already. Some type of gilia on Lone Pine Hill.

Dust off the macro lenses...

Hi Richard,
You gave me a big headache after looking at your photos. I changed from SLRs and rangefinder cameras to a small digital camera in late 2007. I start to enjoy it with its size and weight and cost effectiveness.
Now you are showing me master piece photos with a Digital SLR.
Should I go back to my old Tamron 90mm macro with Nikon FTN or buy a digital SLR?
I just let my motorcycle license expired after kept it for 35 years. Now you are riding around everywhere hiking and shooting pictures on the bike. Should I buy a new bike and take a driving test again?
I stopped traveling overseas for 10 years ago. Now you are start to going out oversea hiking.
I am a very low budget guy.
Now, what should I do?

You have a lot of influence on many people's life.

Thank you for your positive influence.

Shin

PS. Where is a good place to see wild flower in Death Valley?

Shin, I just bought one of the big Costco Advil two packs... I can give you some to relieve the headache. wink

1. The only thing I think my TZ5 can't do is macro. It works great for everything else, so unless you want to do the close-up work, save you money (for #3).

2. Motorcycles are dangerous. smirk

3. Come along to Mexico next November.

Hey Richard !

What ever you do for work, you've missed your true calling in life which is evident in your photography abilities. Those are truly great shots. Keep them coming !

Damned if I know, but it was nice to see some color in the Buttermilks today...

Closest I could come up with was a wild rose, but that's a shrub. Maybe Betsy could chime in here...
