Sounds like with El Nino, we could end up with deep snow levels until late June, early July. If this is the case, should I expect to see tracks that cover all of the 97 switchbacks on the way to TrailCrest (due to traffic on the mountain)
or do most people "skip" the switchbacks and take a more direct route right up to Trail Crest? Or it a little bit of both?

It depends on conditions.

The trip up the slope maybe the best and safest route that time of year, if you have the gear and ability to self arrest and belay.
