I carried 2L from above Guitar Lake with 45# pack. Used about 1/2 liter in 1 hour 15 min to Trail Junction (also refered to as lower trail crest in this thread). Then about 3/4 liters to summit and back to junction (1hr. 45min hiking plus one hour on top. I used the rest getting to upper Crabtree Lake. Time and athletic ability are key factors. I used about 1L per every 2 hours of hiking while on my 8 day back packing trip this summer. Less on the flats and a little more uphills. Good luck

I carried 16oz yesterday. I was going to get more at the spring on the switchbacks but somehow managed to pass it without noticing.

Army Pass was the first one, constructed in 1892, and named. New Army Pass was put up in 1955 because of the lingering snow problems on Army Pass, and the name is natural. But the U.S. Board on Geographic Names never added "Old" to the first pass. Of course, calling it "Old Army Pass" is logical, if incorrect.

Important only if you want to be accurate, or do Internet searches.

It wasn't running on the 28th in the morning but was running weakly in the afternoon when I returned.

Ice in the cables section is beginning to accumulate. Easy enough to bypass at this point.
