The Trip,

First I want to say that I am very sad  I had my camera all the way to the end and somehow it never made it in the car. I think if fell off my pack when it was being loaded in the car. It is a Kodak one touch, small and in a small black case. I am hoping that if someone finds it at trail head and looks at some of the pictures they will see Laura and turn it in to somewhere in Bishop. I had some great picture on there that I would hate to loose. So this is a call for help on the camera. CRYING!!! cry

I wish that I did have some pictures to share but maybe that will come later. Here is my take on the trip!

To me this trip was amazing. It was 100% successful in my book. grin

Let me give you a little background. I have only done one overnighter before this. I have done a lot of day hikes but didn’t really have to pack much. So this was a big learning experience for me. I knew that I had the physical ability to do the hike but not the experience. I learned that as always I over packed. (I do it with the RV as well and drives hubby crazy) I normally hike with guys so this was a real treat to hike with all women. I did Whitney last year and noticed that it was done mostly by guys. So it was cool to meet so many women that love to hike.

I want to thank every woman on this trip for making it great. I didn’t know any of you before I posted on the blog. Thanks to Laura for letting a kinda rooky go. I got to hike with some of you before in preparation for this trip. I love all the different personalities of all the women. We each had something to offer.

What I got out of this trip: I have always loved the outdoors and now love it even more. It was so amazing to hike in the back country and see the natural beauty that it has to offer. It means something different to each person. To me it was a spiritual one. I learned some good and bad things about myself. I will be working on the bad and trying to improve the good.

I think this trip had a lot of expatiations from many on the trip and viewers watching to see if we would fail or succeed. We had some bad times on the trip but we all learned from what went wrong. We had more good times that so out weights the few problems that we had. If you don’t make mistake then you will never learn and that goes for everything in life. For me I wouldn’t change anything about this trip. I learned and grew in many different ways.

I want to say a huge THANK YOU to Moosie for sharing what hiking and being out there means to her. Thank you for taking all of us and putting up with us.  I have enjoyed meeting you and loved the time together. I hope that we can do it again some time because you are a great hiker and I know that there is so much that I could learn from you.
I hope that we can do this next year!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  wink

I want to say THANK YOU and SORRY to my pal SanDe_Carole. I broke your tent, beat you up all weekend and you still took amazing care of me. I love the way we banner back and forth.

I got a new nick name this weekend. Not sure how it happened but I am now Mouse. I lost the Ava and spiderme because everyone started calling me mouse. I think I will have to change my spiderme on the board to Mouse now. Thanks Bee..

So in closing I want to thank you all for putting up with me, I know sometimes I can be well a little much. I will remember the bond with each and everyone of you and hope to hike with each and every one of you again.

I hope that with the board that I will meet and learn from some more great women.

Mouse out.

"....HEEEEEERE SHE COMES TO SAVE THE DAY.......MIGHTY MOUSE!!!"

Yes, folks, that's what the other "M" stands for. Beware the "Mouse" -- don't be fooled -- that little exterior is just a ruse, as I saw her steamroll poor cowgirl Carole, once and again. No piece of equipment or bodily exterior is safe from The Mouse! wink

(She can hide, too!!! I lost the Mouse behind a rock)

I hope hope that you get your camera back, Mousie.

Carole's mini report

The weather was perfect; sunny over the pass and then sun alternating with a wonderful cloud cover after the crest.
At our camp - safely within the tree line, the thunder rocked & rolled and lightning lit the sky into jagged puzzle pieces. It was an amazing show!

The next morning was perfect, cold and clear. So into the basin we went. The slope was beautiful in its ruggedness and the trees provided a canopy of shade. Tiger lilys tempted Moosie and had her bounding into the streams to capture their images. We reached the basin in full sun yet found a glade to relax & snack in. Later as we each took a nomadic moment to ourselves, Mouse found a perfect stream to soak our feet and contemplate the the patterns formed by the crystal clear water cascading over the rocks. After reconvening, we were led on a gorgeous loop around the lakes, a cool breeze constantly refreshed us as we made our way up the tiny incline to see lake after lake of clear crisp water.

Later after meeting many other packers, we reluctantly headed back to camp. Yes, the big "uungh", back up what I thought was a gentle slope. Not so much... =)

The girls gamefully walked to the lake and caught their limit for a fresh fish dinner of Golden Speckled Trout. Freakin amazing! Scotch & vodka complimented all of our meals and much laughter came from our camp and rang off the rock walls.

It was an amazing time and I will forever remember it as my first girls hike.

Please feel free to browse my photos (taken with my mini camera)

Cheers!!!

An EXCELLENT strategy for chasing off the swarm of Sierra Clubbers who invaded our secluded little campsite!

Brava! Brava! Brava! Bravissima! I looked at all the splendid photos, and commend you on your successful adventure. Moosie has the macro thing down on the flora, and those blended backgrounds are so exquisite. What sky! What mountains! Such water! The sunset colors! The vodka! grin What fun! Well done.
