I wasn't going to post this, because it's so far off topic. But we found a treasure atop the second one that I thought I'd share.

Both peaks are obscure (both are in Secor), and I had hoped to find a Norman Clyde register on the first one. But the register thieves have already been there.

For the second, Versteeg has the wrong elevation. But so does Secor: he lists it at 13,120+.

Climbing Peaks 13404 and 13520+

58 It's actually Peak 13,520+

Versteeg was a contemporary of the better-known Norman Clyde, having been born in 1887--two years after Clyde. He died in 1963, nine years before Clyde. He is perhaps best known for contributing the names for many Sierra landmarks, some 250 in all. Versteeg is undoubtedly (?) in second place for first ascents in the Sierra, after Clyde.

Congratulations! I get a thrill from old summit registers, too. How many Norman Clyde entries have you come across in your climbing career?

Wow, Bob, 60 years of registries! Thanks for sharing (and photographing!) a precious treasure. I think your posting does add to our Whitney experience!

This is as good as the Summer of '31 thread on summitpost.

Is this heading to Berkeley?
