I'm planning to do a hike to Kern Peak from Horseshoe meadow sometime soon. I was wondering if there is a spot where one has to cross the Kern River. If so is there a bridge or do you find a safe place to ford across?

Raffy:

There is a bridge, but it's way south of your intended target, basically where the HST drops into the KC at the base of the Chagoopa Plateau. MIght be a wet crossing for you...

When are you planning??? Hmmm...

Was at the kern two weeks ago and the flow was about 580. Crossing should be easy this time of year.

I don't have a hard date set but I'm thinking of early next week. Maybe Tuesday. I'll shoot you an e-mail for sure.

I've been thinking of this peak also, but I'd like to do it from the south:

Raffy...

I have, well, jury duty next Tuesday. Or at least that's what work thinks... wink

I just had a flash of Judas Priest... "Breakin' the law, breakin' the law..."
