Best wishes for a fun and successful hike with as few mosquito bites as possible! Remember if you get tired on the trail, I am watching you and cheering you on.

Hi Kim (~waving)

Hmmmm, sounds like ~SUPER PACK MULE~ could save her (insert Superman theme song here)
where is a super hero when you need one?

Don't think I'm not entertaining the thought of an actual pack mule....don't even think it.

Carole... I dont' have your digits...

Sounds like Alabama Hills Cafe is on the list of "Must Do" before hitting the road Monday morning... I'm good with this... Ava.. you in? LOL

I've never been to Whiskey Creek...

I will make camping reservations this week and then send you the info.

Ava and Blooty- Are you camping or MooseLodging... just making sure I've got enough reservations made.. though spaces usually accomadate 6 ppl so I think we'll be good either way...

Hell yes I'm in. I love a good fat breakfast.. Besides I can say I worked off a lot of calories so I deserve it. .HaHa.

Yes to the camping at the campgrounds as well. I could always do the full on luxury and drive up in the RV. It sleeps 4 easily and 6 if we snuggle. Just a thought, but good with roughing it as well. I mean we will be for 3 days any how..

I can leave any time on Thursday so just let me know when you want to..

Hey I also wanted to throw out there that maybe we could team up in teams of two. This would be good with packing stuff. We could coordinate eats for two with who is packing what. With water filter, stove, tent. Ext. Ext. I just think if we team up we don't have to carry as much. Any takers? If not, no prob. I won't whine I promise.

This would depend on what time we want to get to the campground... do we want to stop someplace for dinner (LP or Bishop).. do we want to leave early enough that we've got camp set up and eat dinner there? Do we want to leave early enough to get to the campsite, set up camp, and then drive back down someplace for dinner?

Carole, Ave? Preferences?

Thursday night is all you can eat beef ribs at Petite Pantry...

Teaming up is a great idea, although since I think there are 7 of us, I am very happy to be the odd woman out. #1: I have a rep to protect in the heavy pack dept; #2: I'm always training and I'll be trying out a new tent and probably stove on this trip, so I'll bring both.

1) LOVE Love Ribs (will co-ordinate arrival time with Miss Moosie)

2) Goat Pack buddies would kill me if I didn't pack self-sufficient, and being so far away, business as usual is better.

3) Bee sure to alot 1 cup hot water ea for Fri nite spud mix (I luv yah, but toting all that water would kill me -- especailly after carrying a whopping 5 litres this last weekend up a mountain)

4) LOGISTICS: Miss Moosie, when we get to the actual map route and leg lengths, please let me know the mileage between water stops if they are far (I am like a camel; I can gage if I need to fill the Platypus or not -- especially if its the last H20 fill before setting up camp)

You'd best warn your buddy that we're invading for Ribs.... oh... and you can tell him we'll each be carrying a .45 to fight off the bears!! wink

So... Ava and Carole are for buddy packing... why don't you two go ahead and plan to buddy up.

Laura and Bee are for solo packing...

I'll wait to hear from for Blooty to chime in to decide as I am good either way...

Just tell me how early you girls want to leave. Ava... if you're still willing to either come down here and meet me (you can park in my spot and your car will be perfectly safe)or drive over to Poway to meet Carole and park there... we can go ahead and tighten up timeframes to leave... If we leave at 8AM from here.. that will put us in LP at about 1PM... Bishop about 2PM... campground about 2:30 or 3PM. Set up camp... lazy around for a few minutes... head over to MooseLodge and invade there. wink (Laura Love may not take frequent advantage of it... but there's a Starbucks on the corner of her street!).

So... how does that sound?

mmmmmm, ribs laugh . I'm so in..

Did you guys know I'm originally from Kansas City? I love me some goooood bbq, in fact, I'm smoking some salmon & almonds right now. If you'd like I can bring some almonds - they pack well. This is the first time w/ the salmon, so I'm holding my breath.

8/8:30 great
moosies or starbucks sounds great - but you don't want me to have caffeine after noon - trust me.
maybe swing by Schatts for the next morning's sugar fix? smile

Can I call you KC from KC?

Almonds are YUMMY!!!!

If we leave by 8:30 that'll give us plenty of time for a leisurely drive up to the campsite and plenty of time to mess around in the afternoon before Laura finishes her rounds and dinner time hits!!! YAY!!!

Would you believe I've never done a Schatts?

Thanks, I will give hubby the spot.

I will let you know on if I'm going to Carole's or your house on Thursday morn. It may be Carole's if we buddy up. That way we can go over our packs. I'm sure she will be saying (you don't need that or that) I kind of over pack whenever I go anywhere. Carole and I will talk on Friday and then I will let you know.

Ladies:

I will work on the map/water situation today, you know, in between patients! smile I will plan on taking the SPOT, because, you know, we're just a bunch of girls and who knows how we're going to pull this off and we probably will need a rescue and we're going to be eaten by bears or someone is going to get tired or something. wink

All kidding aside, water is not going to be an issue: Ruby Lake is about 1/2 way up the pass, then I think I remember a tarn or two up and over the pass, and then other drainages from the map. I'll see what I can do about posting a map from TOPO! later today.

Men are always saying don't hike by yourself. No one should ever go hiking by them selves. Men do it all the time. So I love to here when women do it. One of these days I will embrace my independent and do a solo. But the Little Girl thing just makes me want to beat the crap out of them. mad I'm a very competitive person so that just makes me show them up.
Just the way we will when we go hiking. We will all be fine. Well expect the bits. But I promise no whining will come from me..
