Moosie, Hey do you think with will need clampons and an ice pick?

I really like the idea of sharing the big items. I would think with 7 of us 2 stoves should be good 3 at the most. Same with water filter. Carole and I don't have a stove but I could borrow my neighbors if I need to. We will also be sharing tent and doing water tables.

I can bring the medical tape, moleskin. Have lots of both. I also have lots of cards. Hubby likes to play poker!

I'll bring my first aid kit that I take hiking with my Scouts.

We can share my stove.. it doesn't weigh anything at all....

I have my filter and just got new parts (so hopefully it'll work!)

Good deal... we can do the pack sprawl on Thursday at camp and balance out weight and such!...

How's that sound?

Just ordered some gear. My Ipood and Yaktax are in the mail.

Laura and Tracie are bringing helmets. Should be all bring helmets?

17 days to Mosquito feast.. Let the count down begin.

May we should all kind of take a equipment check in the next week and list what each is bringing. Each person make a list of what will be in there pack. Maybe we can reduce some or maybe I'll see something that someone else is bringing and think (crap I can't believe I almost forgot that).
laugh

Carole that that we might, so I am getting some. I went to Sierratradingpost.com and got them. They are 12.95 plus shipping so for a total of $18.90. Good deal.

I do come up with a good idea about once a year. Crud I'm done for this year.. frown

Report from Mono Pass is that it's melted out. (My boss' husband did a scout last week and is up there packing around this week). No Yaktrax needed on this jaunt. Nor, really, do you need a water filter, but that is a personal decision. I'll be dunkin' and drinkin', thanks.

I will do a bit more research on the peaks in the area. I think all of them have Class 2 approaches, but I do know the area to be fairly loose. A lot of times a loose Class 2 chute can be more dangerous from rockfall than a solid Class 3.

One of the finer points of backpacking is to take along ONLY what you need, and not an ounce more.

On my JMT section hike last year, my partner brought along too much clothing (such as TWO long-sleeve tops), a pound or more of extra face cream lotions and things she never used, etc.

Doing that slows down the entire group.

Don't take more than you need of these items:
tents, stoves and fuel, pots and pans, first aid kits, water filters, bear cannisters, ....

Okay, OKAY!!

Hear Ye: If any one or all you gals can reverse my military indoctrination of "self sufficiency" and convince me that there will bee enough stoves so that I can leave my stinky, overweighted Dragonfly home (and its equally annoying fuel bottle)I will leave it home, and carry the water -- just in case -- filter.

I need to be personally addressed that "Yes, Bee, you can use MY stove and pot to heat your precious Hot Chocolate water" (gawd help you all if I don't get my chocolate!!)

Seriously, I don't want to assume anything. I don't need to cook anything in a pot -- I just need a few cups of hot water for my oats, hot chocolate, and instant spuds...

Bee

PS: I just gave up hiking in combat boots two months ago, so they ARE staying home!

The body betrays and the weather conspires, hopefully, not on the same day.
