A... Alana is feeling much better thanks. The heat just really took it out of her today. I was proud of her though to be able to tell us that she needed to stop instead of pretending she was ok.

It was fabulous to meet the three of you today and it was so much fun to be able to have a group of strong women to hike with locally. Thanks, gals, for taking turns pacing yourself to my slow, short legs. LOL. It felt like we'd hiked together a million times before...

Earlier is good... lol... and maybe something a little closer to the coast next time? Any ideas?

Chris

Hope the SD first training went well. Mine went ok...had a little hitch in that a storm came through and by the time we made it back to the trail head we were wet from head to toe. I have never hiked in the upper parts of this mountain range, mainly because it takes about 1.5 hours to get there from where I live...but I hope to be able to try this one again. We were less then 1/2 way through the loop and decided to turn back the way we came then to continue on the loop in the rain.

Pictures are in my FB account here:

Enjoy!

Ava, Carole and Loretta made the top... Alana wasn't feeling well so we found some shade and waited for the other three.

I think next time will be an even earlier start.. and maybe something closer to the ocean. It's getting to far into summer to do anything for any length in the East County furnace.

There aren't many, and most of them are of my girl child, but here are the rest of the pics from today

Hi Spiderme, I am planning the Gorgonio hike on the 19th. I will see about getting a pass for the three of us when I get back in town. Doing Whitney tomorrow if it's not too windy smile

Chris;

I love your pics. Knowing that Alana is ok, I can giggle at her giving you the "eyebrow" look. Poor tiny sweetie.

It was such a fun morning! Ava is a little powerhouse, look out for her on the trail! I'm up for any hikes on Saturday or Sunday (Ava what would you like to do Friday?)
