Hey Chris;

I'm in Poway, PQ if you're a real estate agent =)
I'd LOVE to meet up with you anytime to hike around down here.

How do you feel about early morning starts?

Carole... that would depend on exactly how early you're talking about, "morning person" is not usually at the top of the list when someone asks a friend to describe me cool.

Most of my hiking is done with my kiddos in tow... just so that you know that. My legs are about 3 inches long, which doesn't make for the quickest of paces.

Where are you thinking about? I am booked the next couple of weekends with Scouts and a Sierra trip... beyond that... it's ALL good!!!

Feel free to contact me off-board too csistrunk@cox.net

Bee, that is funny. I'm telling you, last time I posted anything there, I was literally met with, "What that woman has DONE to the Whitney Board". Sheesh. Things change with time, I suppose.

For the record, I'm honored. Those were some amazingly sweet things for you to say!

I'm as early as I need to be. But then I have been known to use substantial amounts of sugar n caffeine to get me motivated.

I'll email you so we don't hog Moosie's thread

Miss Moosie,

It has been said that the Yosemite Board has "changed SIGNIFICANTLY over the last six month!!!" McFLY!!!! (everyone knows that's when I joined) It's time for a shake-up people, as some call it a breath of fresh air.

You are a breath of rare air; and you have been sorely missed on the Yosemite Board since 2007 wink

Funny, I talked to Steve C this afternoon who said he found the thread where Ken actually ended up coming to my rescue. I found my old thread where I asked about crossing Indian Ridge, but didn't find the rest (admitedly did not spend much time looking for it). Steve said the guy's post that thrashed me was the ONLY ONE he ever posted. What a loser: glad to see I can elicit such anger in people.

As for shakin' it up, I'll stick here. I've got my hands full with this bunch... crazy wink

Miss Moosie,

I am REALLY sorry that you and CaT were subjected to that misenthrope. Heck, I would not want to expose a rat to such negativity! Rick, the moderator at the Y-board, kindly looked up the thread for me, also, and we had(have) a long-running discussion on the episode, and since he now uses a much more sophisticated program, the whole thing would be handled differently, today. I am very sensitive to flaming(personal attacks) and I have been known to be quite protective of my buddies, as this is all supposed to be fun!(Kuddos to any of those guys and gals who act as volunteer moderators!)

MOOSE ARMY..YES!!! (I was thinking about little decoder rings and Moosie buttons that we can pin on our backpacks...Moosie rocks!)

(oops..gonna get erased for beeing too silly crazy)     ...kaZap!

Wow!!!.... I guess the Whitney Board isn't the only one with these occasional little dramas. Oh well.

I'd never heard of the "yosemitenews" board. I suppose there's way more boards than any of us realize. I'm only familiar with this one and High Sierra Topix.

Carole... I'm (almost) always around... just let me know when you're free...

I missed the REI gear sale (totally bummed) and I made sure that I let my boy scouts KNOW what I was giving up in order to backpack with them!!! smile

Hi, I would love to join this group on this hike. I don't know any of you but I love to hike. I can never get my girlfriends or husband to go with me so you gals are my ticket. I did Whitney last year and am going again the first of October. This would be a great way to meet new friends that love to do what I do. Let me know if you still have room and don't mind new bees.
Thanks
Ava

Ava:

Please read the trip description in the middle of the thread. This is not necessarily a trip for absolute beginners, as there will be some mileage and altitude gain/loss over the three days. You must be essentially self-sufficient in your skills.

I have no trouble with having you (or anyone!) along, but I want you to make an informed decision. The whole point of this is to gather some of the women of this board and get to know everyone! We will definitely be helping one another along!
