Does anyone have any overnight permits that they will not be using. My husband has done multiple day hikes to the Summit but I know I can't make it in a day and I would really like to be able to summit with him. We are looking for two overnight permits late Aug or Sept if anyone has any they will not be using.

Thanks,

April

Bruce, thanks for the info. I wish we could go that soon but there is no way we can get off work with that short notice. I am really hoping someone will have something open up in Sept or even late Aug. Thanks again, April

Thanks for the info....I am aware of the Inyo site and that they don't have any overnight permits for Aug or Sept. I wish I could do a day hike, but that is not going to happen.

I was hoping someone on this board had extra overnight permits that they weren't going to use.

Generally speaking, what type of weather and trail conditions can one expect to encounter on Mt. Whitney (on the Mt. Whitney Trail) in late September?

We have an overnight permit for September 29, and my main concern would be the need for equipment such as crampons and an ice axe to deal with snow/ice, which I do not have.

I do not think you will need an ice axe are crampons in Sept. It will still be nice and sunny. I was up there in Sept. two years ago and its was real nice and hot.
