The little but great museum in Independence is putting the finishing touches on an upcoming show of Norman Clyde memorabilia and photos, many of which have never been seen before. Stopped in yesterday and its still a work in progress but due to open in April with much fanfare. You'll love seeing the photos, most of which have been blown up to very large sizes, of Norman scaling Sierra peaks and hobnobbing with other famous climbers. Our hero is finally getting his due at the museum. A definate must see, and only a few miles north of Lone Pine so you guys who are visiting from out of the area, it's just a quick trip north on 395. If you are here in April, please don't miss it!

My wife and I stopped by on Tuesday, and spent the whole morning. There is some fascinating memorabilia--and his ice ax looked five feet long!

I thought this picture's caption was particularly interesting:

Then we went over to Manzanar, and spent the whole afternoon there!

30 days in a row? Wow. I suspect that's one feat that hasn't been repeated.

The kids and I spent a morning at the exhibit over Spring Break. Nice little place, very nice staff... and then my daughter was so moved by their Manzanar exhibit that we spent the afternoon there...

Definately worth the day...
