I have never done the MR and have a couple days free to explore and try it. I would prefer to do it with someone who has already done it a couple times. Reply if interested via my email or on the board.

Male, 48, good shape, no rock climbing since college, done the Whitney in one day trail hike a couple times.

Now it appears that I may not be going. Thank you for all the replies and messages. This message board works great.

I can't make it to Shasta that weekend but would love to hike with anyone who quotes Francis Shaffer. Thanks for the advice on SMI, I will look into that.

I may be able to join you on the 16th.
Are there any recent trip reports on conditions?
I have been down the MR many times, but I do very little cold weather/snow/ice climbing.

Mr. Boyd, I along with a friend of mine will be up there for those same dates. We are going to camp at iceberg lake the first night and summit the next. I have some climbing experience but have never done the MR. Its our first attempt. I think its safe to say wwe will probably see one another. Look for a short dude with a mustache around the age of 30 and a guy around the age of fifty strolling up the route friday morning probably around 7 or so.....I sent message
