Ok fellow SoCalians and all you others who like to drive to hike wink...

As Xmas draws ever closer (which means the after Xmas sigh of relief draws closer as well) I was thinking it was time to throw out another hike idea.

Same general area as the last SoCal group hike, just a little further up the road.

Mt Woodson (off the 67)has been discussed and seconded by various people. I was thinking either the 3rd or 4th of January...

So.. anyone interested?

I am considering and taking beta on both the routes from the 67 and from Lake Poway.. The main thing that I am trying to take into consideration is what children will be along and how they'll hold up to either trail...

Do you have opinions regarding?

Thanks,
Chris

Another possible route begins at the Blue Sky Reserve trailhead on Espola Road. This route adds almost 1.5 miles (3 miles roundtrip) and merges with the trail at Poway Lake. Advantage is free parking versus a $5 fee at Lake Poway, and a longer hike for the more adventerous.

Maybe, rather than all starting together from the same trailhead, hikers could start from wherever best suits them and all meet on top at a prearranged time. Whatever is decided this is a GREAT hike from either BSR or Poway Lake.

BUMP

My thoughts on which trail to take... whichever one you want.

There are multiple trails to the top of Mt Woodson that all end up in the same place. SO... as everyone has different wants and desires out of this kind of hike, everyone has different skill sets.. and some of us have kids and other things to take into consideration.... I was thinking that anyone interested in hiking this one could take whichever trail they wanted and we can make a meeting time at the top!!!

Thoughts?

more info please

approx departure time--length of hike? etc etc

I'm local but this one's new to me? Have you ever tried El Cajon Mtn/El Cap--off the highway towards Barona Casino.

My hubby and I would really like to join you all. We're not very familiar with the trails on Mt. Woodson, but will keep checking the board to see which trail you choose. We're available either day of that weekend, just let us know!!

My kids, Mom and I will be taking the trail from the East. I'm thinking a meeting time of 11:00 at the summit would be good. Input?

As for the question regarding El Cajon/El Cap... that is one that I wouldn't take the kids on. I've hiked it before and it was an interesting trail!

I'm really looking forward to seeing everyone!

Chris,

For me,Saturday the 3rd works best and I'd hike it from the west, either Poway Lake or Blue Sky.I'll follow what happens over the next week or so to see what you all decide.I'm still hoping for a Christmas miracle for the Chargers for playoffs but I'm not holding my beath.
