Did I hear helicopter ride?Next time I want to be sitting up looking out the window in one of those things.Does anybody really think Laura would come down here for a little old flatlanders hike?I believe she's celebrating her 1 year anniversary in Bishop.We'll try to have fun without her.

That's why I'll skydive in to get there.

I don't know if it matters.. but um.. when I had the kids up Iron Mtn a couple of weeks ago I noticed a sign that said "HELO PAD" that branches right off the main trail... Does that help at all Moose?

If you skydive in just do it from above 10K to keep the streak alive.

Ah, I'm going strictly HALO on this one...

Oh gracious... just make sure the bottle of whatever it is that your bringing in is fully cushioned... we don't want celebratory drinks to end up watering the chaparell at the summit!!!

I am almost always up there on Saturday and Sunday. I start about 7:30, If you see an Old Fat guy in mostly green (including my hiking shorts) say, “Hi.” Usually I’m the one who says, “How are you doing?”

This is a really fun hike, and this old guy usually makes it up in about 55 minutes or less on Saturday and a bit slower on Sunday.

Wow! Another great group hike! Lots of familar names and a few new ones. Even got to see the Moment of Bliss in person.

Me and "The Boy" got to run the 1st mile and half since we got caught in "traffic" and showed up late. Hopefully someone will post pics soon.

What a fabulous day for a big group hike. The guest list was long and distinguished today and it was fantastic to see old friends again and to be able to put new faces and names together. We had, in no real order:

I think I got everyone. If I forgot anyone I’m horribly sorry…

We got a little bit later start then we had planned but it was all good in our world. A couple of our friends called and said that they were running late and would catch up.. and they did just after we hit the halfway point in the trail by running the first 1.5 miles or so.

We got to the summit in good time (well... I thought it was good time ) and the REAL party began. Summit snacks began to appear left and right with M&M cookies, Halloween treat baggies full of yummy chocolate candies, half baked rice krispie treats (thanks guys for not laughing!)… we spent quite awhile on the summit and waylaid some innocent hikers to take our group pictures for us… MooseTracks spent a few minutes teaching the kids the finer points of the activity known as “Moment of Bliss”.

My social coordinators (DUG67 and Moosetracks) worked their way up and down the crowd talking to everyone. As everyone was local and had their own timeframes to work with we didn’t necessarily all hike together. There were a couple of different groups, but I think we all pretty much ended up at the summit together for the most part.

OH! And to top out the day…. The first official SUMMIT TOOTH.. that anyone could think of. Hypoxic Zombies boy had a tooth fall out and was carrying it around in an empty ziplock… the debate for a few minutes was regarding how much a summit tooth was worth!!!

Phrase of the day: “IT’S HOT”….

I went up the trail a little earlier than the rest of the zoo to try out a Gigapan beta panoramic robot from Iron Mountain while the air was as cool as possible. This is the first gigapan panorama done. My computers are still chewing on some more. Play with the controls. They work like GoogleEarth.
