Last weekend me and a buddy went up to Blue Lake our of Bishop. The trail starts at Lake Sabrina. Fall colors in full effect. Made a day hike up to Topsy Turvy Lake and traversed off trail down a drainage to Emerald Lakes. Perfect weather! Feel free to ask some questions!

Nice pictures! Thanks for posting. We hiked Blue Lake two years ago. As you hike past Blue Lake, the trail splits. Straight ahead is Donkey Lake and the Baboon Lakes. To the right are the Emerald Lakes, Dingleberry Lake and others. There was a trail sign that said Baboon Lakes to the right. I'm standing there with a map, compass, and GPS thinking that this sign is backwards. I emailed the forest service about this sign. I got a reply that to the right there was a stock trail that led to the Baboon Lakes. We did not take that fork, but it looks like you did. Did you see this sign? Since you hiked the right hand fork, did you see a stock trail that would go to the Baboon Lakes?

Hey I was also there with some friends attempting Mt. Darwin. We might have ran into you at one point. We camped at the highest Hell Diver Lake. It rained and hailed on us on Monday as we hiked out. I love it this time of the year. No bugs/people and the colors are amazing! Here are some pictures .

Richard, The first junction went left to Donkey/Baboon and right went to Dingleberry and emerald lakes. But when you go to the left there is another junction and right had a sign for Baboon lakes, no sign for the left junction. It was a fairly new sign, and that trail was not marked on my Tom Harrison map.
Kevin, You may have passed us on the way up, but I do not remember exactly. Nice photos though!

Great pics, both of you!

This is an area I've never been to, but been interested in, and am glad to see something of it. Looks like good trout country!

Thanks for the TR's

This is one of my favorite hikes - the first glimpse of Blue Lake coming up the trail is amazing. Thinking of going up there next weekend too. If the wife goes then it's Blue Lake, if I'm solo then it's Bishop Pass.

Blue Lake is one of the most beautiful lakes in the Sierra's.
Was last there over Labor Day, saw a couple of people camping there. great spot to backpack to and share a bottle of red as the sun goes down.
