--WE have 2 cars - one ariving HM on 7/5 and the other arriving HM on 7/6 - Our entry date is 7/7 We will go over Cottonwood pass and down Rock Creek and over to Crabtree, to Guitar and then summit Whitney then out at the Portal on 7/12 -
--We can work out our shuttle issues on our own - but would be interested if anyone with similar dates would like to help or be helped - maybe saving a trip or some gas -
-- I was also considering leaving vehicles near Lone Pine and then catching a ride down to fetch them when we come out - Thought it might be easier to leave them there and catch a ride back up to HM from LP on Sun afternoon (7/6).
Anyone have any thoughts?

"catch a ride" sounds so easy. Last time I had to catch a ride from LP to the Portal in the afternoon to get back to my truck I ended up walking the entire road up. Lots of "look a that silly man walking up the road" faces as they drove past my thumb staring that that strange creature on foot...

If you have two cars, park one at each end. Nothing easier than that.

Leaving the two at the trail heads will cost you about $10 of gas and take about an extra hour and a half of your time (maybe more if you stop for supper and a beer in Lone Pine). Its worth skipping the aggravation and time lost, and coming down that last day, you will appreciate something very very close and dear to your heart parked a couple of hundred feet away.

While arranging the shuttle, be sure to pick up any stragglers on the road. smile

You managed to get both cars all the way there so that you could have a shuttle. Might as well luxuriate in the opportunity. They will probably be safer at the trail heads anyway.

But that is nice that you are offering rides for those that probably couldn't make it.
