Hi M.C. -
Yep -- the conditions just seem perfect and I could hear the mountain calling me all week. I have not been much over 10k in the last couple months so I may struggle. Planning an MR up and was trying to decide which way to go down. Glisading is fun under the right conditions. Guess it will depend on my speed. My luck - it looks like I will be the slowest member of our group. Hope they leave me time to eat. Will bring back a conditions report.

Have a great weekend everyone - Tom

Ahhhh, so you’re taking my place. whistle It’s funny…when I was hiking/climbing many years ago, I was always out front. Many times I would go on ahead of the group as I enjoyed the silence of being in the mountains. At this time (after years of not doing much more than low altitude hiking) I am just so happy to be on a mountain at higher altitudes. The mountains will keep calling us…

Have a great time this weekend and bring food that you can eat while climbing! wink

tomcat,

Sorry for the delay, I was out on another adventure over the weekend (this time in southern Utah). I did see a butt glissade path down the snow slope from trail crest back on 4/17. Run out isn't too bad (some rocks, should be easy to avoid if you're in control). I was in favor of the glissade descent but Helen doesn't have as much glissading experience and wasn't comfortable descending that route - hence the switchbacks we took. Of course, if she had her AT skis with her she would have been comfortable schussing that slope.
