My car IS a Garcia cannister:

J/K. I clean that thing out completely before I leave it anywhere. Even in the carport at home!

I bring up a Family size BBQ every year and have had no problems ever.
All of my years up there I had Bears twice. I must be one of the lucky ones that do not get touched.
Sorry yo the few that do.

Would you mind posting those pics of the bear paw prints? That was my truck, and by the time I got back to it ( around 3:30) they ( the paw prints) were almost gone. It was a silver tacoma with rice crispy treat, beef jerky and other assorted junk food wrappers on the morning of the 6th right? That bear didnt leave a crumb!!! As a first timer to whitney, that made fir a good story to tell!. Oh, and thanks for cleaning up after the bear.

It's true! I go to the Portal Store because:
4. I enjoy beautiful scenery
3. I devour the world's finest burger and fries
2. I meet nice people
4. I don't get shot! laugh

Maybe Doug needs to bring in this guy.

Maybe Dubois was commenting on the guy, not the bear. I have to say I didn't appreciate his "how funny was it that my truck got broken into" comments. mad

I think Tomcat has an appropriate phrase for someone like that... wink

Key thing from the article:

"Though the animals have been known to attack humans, no one has been killed by a black bear in California"
