I could use some info' or even a picture of the route from Iceberg Lake over the crest and down to Wallace Lake (Russell/Carillon) pass? Its part of a route I'm doing in late summer but not sure how tough it'll be with a 40 plus pound pack. Thank you in anticipation.

Hi Quick look on Google earth ,you can see the ridge between the drainages, Trip is done most times by starting at Lower Boys Scout Lake , working your way up the canyon to the North to Tuleinyo Lake then down to Wallace, some class 2-3 hiking and moderate route finding. At Iceberg you are trapped in a bowl 14,000'+/- ridgelines to the north and west. Thanks Doug

The photos you can get to from these threads show the route over the Russell/Carillon Saddle.

There's some discussion of going over from near the Artic Lakes in this thread:

I think I'm going to try and do this loop this summer using Doug's recommendation for going up from LBSL.

There is a route from Iceberg to Whitney-Russell Pass, then following a class 2 traverse to Russell-Carillon Pass described in this trip report (scroll down to the Day 4 description):

http://www.climber.org/TripReports/1998/373.html

I haven't done it, but we're planning to try this route as part of our trip this August.

Steve
