Watched it from the back yard with my daughter. Pretty cool. Last one I saw was up in the Palisades. We didn't know that one was coming, so it was a surprise.

I set my alarm for 3:30. Got up and went to the front yard, saw the moon was all reddish-orange. Very cool. Wish I could have watched it start-to-finish, but I had to work today, and need my beauty sleep. grin

Watched parts of the eclipse; had a nice view from my deck. The shades of red/orange, while the moon was in shadow, were beautiful. I didn't realize until I watched the news this morning that the colors are reflections of various sunsets/sunrises from around the world.

I was on the trail but the weather totally blotted out the sky. Should have been a unique Whitney experience: a full moon followed by an eclipse. But the storm took care of that.

Yeah ... saw it!

Happened to get up while still dark while at our cabin in Canada (no light pollution at all), and noticed that what had been a full moon when it rose before bedtime the previous evening was now no more than a 3/4-moon an hour or so before the first light of dawn. Kept watching, and sure enough, it was an eclipse (I had forgotten it was coming that day). My photographer wife then got up with me, got out her good photo equipment and snapped off a few shots when it was in total eclipse with the reddish-orange earthshine on it.

Since tomorrow (8/31) is our only repacking day for our hiking trip to California Sep 1-15, I don't think she'll have time to upload those pix to our smugmug page until after we get back from California. But when she does, I'll try and post a link to her pictures.

It was awesome, esp. when viewing it in a black star-lit Canadian sky absent any light pollution!

I start work at 4am in the Los Angeles area, so I was able to see most of it. The weather was good also so the view was really nice. You could really notice how dark the sky became as the moonlight became more obstructed.
