This is a picture looking up the final 400 feet to the summit. We call that the staircase or the chute above the notch. You can see the snow/ice field up toward the top.

I have never seen it gone totally, even late in the summer. At that point, if you are on the remaining hard ice you choose to be there.....but I can't imagine hauling snow gear up there for 100 feet of ice and hard packed snow.
