Yeah, I heard about a bear at the portal campground last Thursday night, when I was staying there. Apparently, somebody's backpack was ripped open...

Egads! Can't people read? Signs are posted everywhere to put the damn food safely away because there are bears roaming the campground. It is unbeleiveable how dense some folks are. How do they survive living in a city let alone out in the great outdoors?... This just encourages more bear prowls while trying to get some shuteye.

Beats working!

Sorry to go back, memory lapse mentioned that the Ursacks are conditionally approved. So does that mean I can use mine on the Portal Trail?

Yes it does. The post above was about a bear tearing open a backpack not an Ursack but I have no doubt that there will be a report xometime in the near future of a bear violating the integrity of the Ursack. Seems that every manufacturer suffers a couple of these reports.

Conquest, maybe. The ONLY Ursack that is ok for the restricted areas is the Ursack S29 Hybrid (aluminum insert required)

Older models do not qualify. Outside of the restricted areas, older models are ok.
