hello all! this is my first post here. I will be hiking Mt whitney in one day on july 7th with a group of 3... ok to the point I'm pretty sure I read some where that you can get an extra mile up the trail with a high clearance 4x4??? Am I crazy?? Thanx for your input.
It's only during the winter months when the Portal road is closed would your 4x4 be of use--getting you closer to the trailhead. During the summer, however, any driveable car can get to the parking lots at the trailhead.
