This message is posted on the new server.

Today (Friday, March 23), the message board has moved from an old server to a newer one at QNET, the whitneyportalstore.com host site. The move was a required step in preparation for upgrading the message board to new database software. The move requires that the URL (www.whitneyportalstore.com) registration be changed, so it points to the new server address.

The move should occur about 9 AM PDT, and should be done in less than half an hour if all goes smoothly. The unknown part is how long it will take for the URL registration change to propagate across the Internet. Note: It took about 40 minutes before my browser found the new server.

All messages were copied to the new board, and all login information (usernames and passowords) are the same.

In a few more weeks, the board software will be changed from UBB "Classic" software to UBB "Threads". You will notice a significant change to the board's look and feel when that occurs.

If you found this message, the move was a success, and all is well with the board.

I see from his post in another thread that Andrew found the new server. Anyone else reading this... please post a reply. I just want to see that people are finding the board on the new server.

Thanks.

Yes, this is the right place. If you are on the wrong server, this thread looks like this . (Only two posts, both from me.)

Fred, if you are able to post, then I am pretty sure your "www." site is working.

For those of you who have found your way here, what browser and version are you using? Others have not been able to get to this board yet.

Nothing has changed. As I wrote above:

There are a bunch of people who cannot see these messages yet. Not sure how long it will take for their Internet provider to discover the URL registration change.

Whatever happens, keep up the good work. This site loads the fastest of all the 8 that I automatically load-up with Firefox tabs, and, is the only one that never crashes, never dumps scripts, cookies or other crap.

Steve,
I took a break and started back on the old server with IE 7. I documented the steps that I took in a Word file that I will send to you when I am done.

After testing and documenting several actions on the on the old server, I made it over to the new server. Now when I repeat my steps on the new server (trying to get to the old server) I am staying linked to the new server. I will let you know when I am done.

Steve,
I still am having trouble getting to the new server with my version of IE 7. I keep using WWW2 and can see the new server, but when I click on a link I get rerouted back to the old server. I emailed you the steps that I recorded in my test.

I am having the same problem - every time I link to a new page I have to retype the 2 after the www - most of the time it tells me I can no longer post because it has switched back to the old server. - will check back Sunday after I get out of the mountains - maybe by then the bugs will be worked out.
